Max Verstappen is the winner of the Spanish GP , sixth round of the Formula 1 World Championship, on the Montmelò circuit.
A race marked by the retirement of Charles Leclerc , who on Saturday had conquered the pole position and who was dominating from the start. Then a technical problem forced him to stop on lap 28 .
The road was therefore cleared for the Red Bull driver, who crossed the finish line in front of his teammate Sergio Perez . In third place the Mercedes of George Russel , while Carlos Sainz with the other Ferrari has to be satisfied with the fourth place .
Fifth place, however, for Lewis Hamilton .
Verstappen thanks to the success, the 24th in his career, and the retirement of Leclerc, leads the world drivers ' standings at +6 on the Monegasque one week before the Monaco GP, just as Red Bull overtakes Ferrari in the constructors' standings.
