In Atlanta, the Iberian national team, considered among the favorites to win the final, had to deal with a rock-solid Cape Verde team, who held off the assaults of the red furies for 90 minutes plus injury time (even risking outsmarting the team coached by De la Fuente.

In the end, the scoreboard reads 0-0, much to the disappointment of Lamine Yamal (who made his World Cup debut, coming on in the 70th minute) and his teammates.
