Already much appreciated as an interpreter for her prolific activity on the big screen, Kira Sedgwick has been able to establish herself more recently as a director in television series and returns again to direct the camera - this time shooting a feature film - with the family dramedy entitled “Space Oddity” , of which it is already possible to view the trailer in streaming.

Premiering in June at the Tribeca Film Festival, the film will star Kyle Allen (West side story), Simon Helberg (A serious man), Madeline Brewer (The handmaid's tale), Alexandra Shipp (Tick, tick…boom!) and also husband Kevin Bacon (Footloose).

This is a story that emphasizes human ties , especially the unpredictable ones: Alex is determined to give a cut to his terrestrial life, which he feels is hard and oppressive, and he wants to do it by organizing a one-way trip to Mars. But the unexpected meeting with a girl and the beginning of a love story will seriously question the realization of a dream so coveted by virtue of one's feelings.

In an interview with People, the director declares that, reflecting on the aspects of life to take into greater account, she cannot avoid referring to human ties. Very often in fact, as hard as it can be, life forces abrupt detachments as if it were possible to leave the planet and land on Mars. In this regard , "Space Oddity" tries to trace a way to go back home "through the heart, hope and humanity as a guiding light".

We are still awaiting further details on the release date of the title and its distribution , it has not yet been clarified whether the release will take place in theaters or on a streaming platform.
