Women's rights "are still today a goal to be conquered, in the economic and working fields", because despite the battles fought and the achievements already achieved, "neither the rights nor sometimes the very life of women are today adequately protected".

This was stated by the President of the Region Christian Solinas in a long message on the eve of March 8, International Women's Day.

"We must commit ourselves to really affect the full and sacrosanct possibility of women to be workers, professionals engaged in society at all levels, without conditioning and oppression, in the hope that their full and equal participation in civil and political life will be reached as soon as possible , economic and social of our country ", reiterated the governor, addressing a thought and a wish to all Sardinian towns.

He mentioned the name of Grazia Deledda as an "extraordinary example to look at" Solinas, recalling that there are many "women of the past and present who have marked the history of female emancipation, raising the name of Sardinia in the world".

The Nobel Prize for literature is "the archetype of the Sardinian woman who knew how to tell the world the most authentic and profound spirit of her land, maintaining an indissoluble bond and an unshakable love with Sardinia"

The governor then wished to recall the role of women as mediators and bearers of peace and address a moving thought to Ukrainian women, in this difficult moment, and to all other women engaged in social work, who in every sphere, "with generosity and noble spirit , they give their time and use their strength for the good of others ".

Finally, the day of 8 March must also be an occasion "for a profound reflection on the drama of the episodes of femicide and violence against women which, as the news shows, still represent a constant of our times".

“Men and women, united, must strongly feel the need to fight all forms of violence and discrimination, which are the cause of backwardness and lack of development not only socially but also economically. Today more than ever - concluded Solinas - we must take every useful path with determination and willpower to achieve full and concrete gender equality, emblem of a society that includes women and highlights their fundamental role in society. . We have a duty to work so that our island is a land of inclusion, hospitality and profound respect ".
