Poker by Sofia Goggia, who won the downhill World Cup for the fourth time after those of 2018, 2021 and 2022.

Mathematical certainty arrived even before getting on track in the Kvitfijell descent and after her only potential rival, the Slovenian Ilka Stuhec, had momentarily placed third, obtaining too few points to be able to overtake Sofia.

In today's race Goggia finished second, 29 cents behind the Norwegian Kajsa Lie. Out of eight descents contested this year, the Italian won five, then two second places and a crash in Cortina.

The overall World Cup was instead won for the fifth time by the American champion Mikhaela Shiffrin, with seven races to go on the end of the season. The only potential rival, the Swiss Lara Gut Behrami, finished behind her keeping a gap of over 700 points, now unbridgeable.

Shiffrin is at the fifth title after those of 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022.
