Sizing, it's the right time for the approval of a law on the Sardinian school. There is time now: it was gained thanks to the "strategy" adopted by this part of the Tyrrhenian Sea against the decisions of Rome, which envisaged a linear cut in school autonomy without paying attention to the real needs of a complex and articulated territory like the island.

In short: according to government forecasts, based on aseptic parameters, in Sardinia by 2027 there should only be 220 autonomies. A goal to be achieved through progressive cancellations. The Island, this time, should have eliminated nine. But the Education Department of Ilaria Portas presented a plan that only envisaged the reduction of six, arguing - also with the support of the Culture Commission of the Regional Council, chaired by Camilla Soru (PD) - that the State's calculations were based on incorrect data on the number of students.

An institutional clash was expected. Instead, today a ministerial decree was published that seems to open up to greater tolerance, with the granting of additional autonomies.

A technicality, which in Sardinia becomes substantial: «Now there is room to act on a reduced size, also in agreement with territories that have requested it», explains Soru, «but above all we have a year to approve an organic law on schools, a Sardinian law that takes into account the territorial specificities, which are certainly not those of Lazio or Veneto».

The bowls that were about to overwhelm the Island, its schools and its children have been blocked: « The result was achieved thanks to the action of the councilor Portas, who started the arm wrestling with the Ministry, with the support of the Culture commission. But we must not remain still», continues Soru, «the school issue must forcefully enter the agenda of the national Insularity commission, which must work in synergy with the Regional Council and the Regional Board. Education is a topic that cannot be overlooked».
