Yesterday, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) acquired the documents from the venues interested in hosting Euro 2032 matches: Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Florence, Genoa, Lecce, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Rome, Salerno, Turin, and Verona . Rome has submitted three venues: the Olimpico, the Giallorossi's stadium, which is planned to be built in Pietralata, and the Flaminio. Naples has submitted two: the Maradona and the stadium that Aurelio De Laurentiis is pushing hard to build.
The technical investigation is now underway to ensure compliance with the infrastructural, authorization, financial, and organizational standards required by UEFA to host the competition.
Then, by October 1st, the FIGC will have to choose five stadiums to submit to UEFA, "plus other support stadiums," Malagò explained. These are reserve stadiums ready to step in if any problems arise in the future , particularly for stadiums not yet built that could be added to the list.
Thousands of pages to read, highly technical documents, and two months to submit the stadium selection to UEFA. This morning, the FIGC issued a statement "thanking the government, local administrations, sports clubs, and all institutional stakeholders for their active collaboration." It also specified that, "in the coming weeks, discussions will continue with the stakeholders to consolidate and refine the dossiers, with a view to identifying the venues to be submitted to UEFA by October 1, according to the timetable established by the selection process."
