It's once again Jannik Sinner against Carlos Alcaraz .

The Italian tennis player beat Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in four hard-fought sets in three hours and 21 minutes . And now, in the US Open final, he faces his Spanish rival-friend for the umpteenth time.

At 24 years and a few days old, the South Tyrolean is the youngest player in the Open era to have reached four Grand Slam finals in a season and the fourth player ever to achieve the feat (the others are Rod Laver, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic).

"It's been a fantastic season. And to be in another Slam final at the end of the season is great. It was a tough match, I'm very happy," Sinner said, praising Auger-Aliassime for his performance.

The Italian then reassured everyone about his health ahead of Sunday's final, which will also see US President Donald Trump in the stands: "Nothing to worry about," he replied to those who asked him what the problem was that had prompted him to call the physiotherapist on court at the end of the second set - which he lost - and then take a short break to receive medical attention.

At stake – in the Sinner-Alcaraz match on Sunday – not only is the US Open at stake, but also the top spot in the world rankings.
