A dramatic turn of events in the doping case involving Jannik Sinner . It seemed all over, with the failure of the International Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) to appeal, but that is not the case.

Wada's investigation is still ongoing . The Agency has in fact requested "additional documentation on the case from Itia", the independent agency that judges cases of doping in tennis that has acquitted Sinner by accepting the reconstruction on the infinitesimal quantity of Clostebol found in his urine, due to contamination by the physiotherapist who massaged him after using the "incriminated" ointment to treat a wound on his finger .

In short, Wada was not satisfied with the nearly 50 pages of the ruling and requested the complete case files but did not communicate the date on which it received the requested documentation . And according to a paragraph of article 13 of the Anti-Doping Code, reserved for Wada and not for the Italian anti-doping agency, the 21-day deadline for appealing is calculated from the moment of receipt of all the documentation , therefore also of the additional material. In short, a final decision should arrive by the end of the month. The Agency confirms that "the review of the case is still ongoing and for the moment no decision has been made on the matter" .

As for the other party interested in a possible appeal, Nado Italia, the appeal has not been presented. And the terms in this case have expired.

Meanwhile, Sinner, after his triumph at the US Open, is returning to Italy and on Sunday he will be in the stands to support his teammates playing in the preliminary round of the Davis Cup.
