Also for 2025, the Municipality of Sinnai renews its appointment with great international photography by hosting the World Press Photo exhibition, one of the most important exhibitions in the world dedicated to photojournalism and documentary photography.
This year the exhibition will be held in two different locations and periods: from July to August at the Tourist Information Centre in Solanas and from September to October at the MuA - Museum and Archive of Sinnai.
The exhibition will present the winning photographic projects of the 2025 edition of the World Press Photo competition, selected from 59,320 images submitted by 3,778 photographers from 141 countries. The works document crucial issues of global current affairs, including conflict, migration, climate change and stories of human resilience, contributing to the construction of a shared visual memory.
"Hosting the World Press Photo exhibition in the town of Solanas, as well as in Sinnai, is a source of deep pride for us ," said Mayor Maria Barbara Pusceddu . "We wholeheartedly support this international cultural project, which embodies social and civil values of great importance. Through images of extraordinary expressive power, World Press Photo invites us to reflect on the central themes of our time, helping to spread awareness and critical thinking, especially among the younger generations."
After the success of the last edition, which registered over 2,000 visitors, the Municipality of Sinnai confirms its commitment to cultural promotion and openness towards contemporary languages of visual narration , offering the community and visitors the opportunity to access high-quality content recognized internationally.
"Sinnai - adds the Councilor for Culture Cristiano Spina - is among the first places in the world to host this prestigious exhibition after the announcement of the winners at the end of April. Having brought this international exhibition to Solanas represents an important and strongly desired goal: an initiative that arises from the desire to enhance the tourist location. The art of photojournalism has the power to tell the world with strength and depth, and we are honored to be able to offer this extraordinary visual heritage in the evocative setting of our territory. With this exhibition, Solanas demonstrates that it is not only a seaside destination, but also a fertile space for cultural events of international importance. I thank all those who made this event possible and I invite citizens, tourists and enthusiasts to visit the exhibition and experience Solanas also through the emotion of photography and the power of visual storytelling".
The initiative is promoted with the support of the Fondazione di Sardegna, the Municipality of Sinnai and Sardinia to do, with the collaboration of ASCE (Sardinian Association for the European Path) and the sociocultural association Ardesia.
Further details regarding the opening calendar and collateral events will be communicated soon.
