A video shot by Angelo Perra during the Sinnai Carnival of 1971, made over half a century ago on "Super 8" film, has been uploaded to YouTube . It is probably the oldest video testimony of the Sinnai Carnival.

The author tells the origin of the video, which has already received numerous views. You can follow it by searching for "Sinnai, Carnevale 1971".

"That year - says Perra - the tradition was falling into oblivion , so the Il Mulino club decided to do some research. At that time in Sinnai there were many youth clubs and Il Mulino, the leader among the organizers of the Carnival, involved some of them. Meetings for the organization of the event were held in its headquarters. There was the presence and testimony of elderly people born in the late 1800s and early 1900s, true continuators of the tradition that had already seen them participate in past years and, in a room packed with young people of the time, it was explained what the Sinnai carnival consisted of, with numerous anecdotes and several questions from the audience".

"The organization machine was set in motion in a very short time - adds Perra - even though it was difficult to find the clothes to wear, such as deer and wild boar skins. So today, in this short video of just over 7 minutes shot with 8 mm film, you can see some images from over half a century ago, of the deer hunt in the streets of the town, the masks of Is Crobus and the performances of Is Pariglias in via Costituzione where the knights of Sinnai, Cosimo Orrù, Francesco Alba and Francesco Lepori and others from Dolianova and Uras, gave proof of their ability".

«The club "Il Tunnel" took charge of representing the parody of Su Cranovali Motu and its puppet - adds Perra - was carried in procession through the whole town, arriving in Piazza Chiesa, awaited by a crowd of people : but it was not filmed in the video, since the operator himself had to take part in the show in the onerous role of Su Notaiu with the reading of Cranovali's will» .
