The leader of the League this afternoon met the Forza Italia leader Silvio Berlusconi in Arcore. The two talked for about two hours, at the center of the conversation the idea relaunched today on the pages of the “Giornale” by Salvini.

In a letter to the newspaper, the secretary of the Carroccio launched the idea of a federation of the center-right "on the model of the republican party" that includes the parties that support the Draghi government, therefore Lega, Forza Italia, Coraggio Italia (the party of Giovanni Toti ) and We with Italy (that of Maurizio Lupi).

“I don't get down on it. And I relaunch ”, he writes. He admits the limits of the coalition, then throws the jab at Giorgia Meloni: "I respect those who said no to the government of national unity, no to Draghi and the day before yesterday no to the election of Mattarella, but I don't understand the choice to attack the allies who have matured a different decision ".

Then he indicates the political path to follow to give new impetus to the coalition: "Our model can be that of the American Republican Party: the center-right federation of the forces that support the Draghi government will be a political space where the various souls and different sensitivities will find hospitality. of a political culture alternative to left-wing progressivism, all different, despite the common framework outlined here, but all reaching out towards the same political objective ".

"We are at a crossroads", concludes Salvini, "getting by can mean dying, deciding for a change and joining together is a risk, but also an opportunity, it is an opportunity to change the center-right and, with it, transform, finally and substantially, also Italy. Now or never".
