"City of Witches," but with a focus on promoting the historical and cultural heritage linked to the magical arts and folk traditions. A three-year memorandum of understanding was signed on Friday between the Municipalities of Benevento and Siligo to join the national "City of Witches" network, a project born with the goal of uniting and networking the Italian regions that preserve memories, legends, and symbols linked to the witchcraft imagination.

The signing of the document took place in the presence of the Mayor of Benevento, the Honorable Mario Clemente Mastella, and the Mayor of Siligo, Giovanni Porcheddu . Through this agreement, the two municipalities commit to promoting, in a coordinated manner, cultural, tourism, educational, and promotional activities related to the theme of witchcraft, understood as a historical, anthropological, and symbolic phenomenon; to sharing materials, experiences, and content useful for the shared narrative; and to actively participate in events, projects, and research activities within the Network.

The Municipality of Benevento, as the lead partner, will be responsible for coordinating the Network's activities, managing communications between the participating municipalities, and proposing joint guidelines, events, and projects, as well as promoting calls for proposals and funding opportunities.

Also present at the signing in Benevento was Paolo Bellotti, president of the Intrecci Culturali association, which promotes the Ammajare Festival, which recently took place in Siligo, the hometown of Julia Carta, a woman who lived at the end of the 16th century, accused of heresy and persecuted by the Inquisition.
