This may be one of the last chances to attend the presentation of Sigfrido Ranucci's book "La Scelta," published by Bompiani. The event will be this evening, Sunday, September 21st, at 6:00 PM in Piazza Italia in Sant'Antioco. Admission is free.
Starting September 17th, with the sold-out premiere in Spoleto at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti, a highly successful debut "dedicated to the 30 journalists who died for the truth and for their choice to inform at any cost, recognizing freedom of the press as a fundamental right," Sigfrido Ranucci will be performing throughout Italy with his first live show, "Diary of a Trapeze Artist," a story told through video, images, and words that will see the Report host on stage as the sole protagonist but in reality the spokesperson for a choral effort conducted together with his entire team.
"There are people whose presence and choices, while remaining in the shadows, have been instrumental in the realization of my investigations, people who seem to have stepped out of a novel," Ranucci explains of Dario di un trapezesta. "There's a vagabond who helps me achieve the most important international scoop in RAI's history, the one on the bombing of Fallujah, where the United States used the chemical agent white phosphorus. Then a taxi driver who led me back to the Tanzi art gallery, dozens of masterpieces worth millions of euros that had escaped the investigations of two prosecutors and the world's most important international investigative agency, Krol. A Swiss producer who spends sleepless nights saving toads, and who saved me from the trap of a politician who had me spied on to block my investigation into his administration and ruin my career. Then there's the vice principal of a school who helped me investigate arms trafficking, and a robber from Puglia who witnessed the mafia ordering me to kill him. There's the teacher who filmed the mysterious meeting between Senator Matteo Renzi and former 007 Marco Mancini at a service station. Finally, there's Lavinia, a bodyguard who helped me foil a plan by some politicians to replace me as host of Report. I've come to believe that everyone I've met in my life," the journalist continues, "had a mission; those who left because they had completed that mission. They all took a piece of me with them and taught me something, some even to not be like them."
During the Sant'Antioco evening, moderated by Paolo Lusci, Ranucci will certainly have the opportunity to tell the audience about the latest events in the troubled new edition of Report, which begins October 26th on Rai 3, and perhaps even a sneak peek at his theatrical debut, which will soon be coming to Sardinia.
