The delays in investments for the restart of the Sider Alloys plant in Portovesme, in the Sulcis area, at the center of the last summit held at the Ministry of Economic Development (Mise).

There were the trade unions, the company, and the representatives of Invitalia and the government.

The novelty is that Invitalia has paid in these days the quota foreseen by the program contract which will allow to start as early as September with the foundry and in the first half of 2023 with the electrolysis room, and then arrive at full capacity in 2024.

The company also received confirmations on the signing of a ten-year agreement with Enel but it also emerged that a reshaping of the energy plan may be necessary due to the crisis situation at an international level.

The second part of the summit was devoted to the situation of workers . The Cisl and Cgil trade unions have placed at the center the problem of staff currently on the move by way of derogation and without any resources. For its part, Sider Alloys has expressed the need for a rejuvenation of the workforce that the acronyms have agreed to take into consideration "provided that - the CISL points out - any accompanying towards the retirement of the workers concerned takes place according to dignified conditions ". Hence the decision, during the summit, to set up a table to verify the possible opportunities with the contribution of the Government, the Region and the company.

Mobility, possible early retirement, progress of investments and guarantee of the relocation of workers who have left the plant will therefore be on the agenda of an upcoming meeting at Mise which will be reconvened as soon as possible.
