Arianna Fontana missed the podium in the 1000m short track at the Milan-Cortina Games.
The Italian Olympian, after winning gold in the relay and silver in the 500m, finished in fourth place behind Dutchwoman Xandra Velzeboer , gold, Canadian Courtney Sarault , silver and Korean Gilli Kim , bronze.
A fourth-place finish that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth and which, Fontana laments, may have been tainted by a collision : "I'm smiling so as not to cry, I'm so angry ," the Italian champion commented after the race. "I was headed for a medal. Now she'll have to let this anger go and turn it into fuel."
