Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the Shanghai Masters. The Italian world number 2 was forced to retire after suffering severe cramps during the third set of his match against Tallon Griekspoor, who was down 7-6 (7/3), 7-5, 2-3, and thus advanced to the round of 16.

“I feel sorry for Jannik, that’s not how you should win,” said Griekspoor, commenting on the Italian champion’s withdrawal.
