A cursed love, that between the legendary Trojan leader and the queen of Carthage, in Henry Purcell's baroque masterpiece, reimagined with a surprising, accessible, and contemporary theatrical language: on Friday, September 25, at 9 pm, at the Teatro Civico in Sassari , the Turin-based company "Controluce Teatro d'Ombre" will stage "Dido and Aeneas." The play is part of the third edition of the Nessun Dorma Festival , organized by Ars Aurelia ETS, under the artistic direction of Irene Dore .

It will be an exclusive event to rediscover shadow theatre , an ancient scenic form. which, between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, experienced a new and fascinating era in the artistic cabarets, salons, and theaters of the Belle Époque in Europe. An extraordinary performance, in which opera, puppetry, images, bodies, and visual illusions merge into a magnetic experience.

The staging and direction of the shadows are by Cora De Maria, Alberto Jona, and Jenaro Meléndrez Chas . Dramatic consultancy is by Alfonso Cipolla , while the choreographic movements are by Paola Bianchi .

The show debuted in 1999 at the Incanti Festival in Turin with live music and, over the years, has been presented in important international contexts, winning the Audience Award at the International Shadow Theatre Festival in Schwäbisch Gmünd in Germany.
