Sardinia remembers the great television author, screenwriter and creative genius Marcello Marchesi, with an award named after him which will see the awards ceremony take place in Setzu on 30 September. It was in the small town of Giara that Marchesi found a wife and here he spent his holidays and retired, even for long periods, to write programmes, books and songs.

Promoters of the Marcello Marchesi Award, in tribute to the famous advertiser, among the protagonists of the first Caroselli of the single-channel black and white Rai, Maurizio Porcelli, creator of the event, the Municipality of Setzu led by the mayor Sandro Palla, Massimo Marchesi president of the Association "Marcello Marchesi" and the Isolarte Association, a social and cultural promotion body active with initiatives spanning literature, music, art, cinema and entertainment, created to promote the illustrious figures of Sardinia who have left an indelible mark in the memories of the communities and territories. The highlight of the Award will be on September 30th in Setzu starting at 5pm in the municipal library named after Marchesi, where special career awards will be awarded to famous people of national fame.

The prize for the literature section was awarded to the Cagliari writer and journalist Francesco Abate, today one of the leading authors of the Einaudi publishing house.
