It is blocked in the industrial port of Oristano, following an inspection by the Port Authority which lasted until late yesterday evening. The vessel, flying a foreign flag, was engaged in commercial operations.

The administrative detention order was triggered after serious irregularities were found on board, related to navigation safety and the protection of the marine environment . These, at the moment, prevent the departure of the ship which will be able to set sail again only after the shipping company has resolved them.

The military inspection covered the command bridge, the engine room, the wheelhouse, the external decks and also the spaces used for the crew. The inspection phase concluded with a fire drill to verify the emergency management capacity. Overall, 7 anomalies were detected which will have to be resolved and verified by Coast Guard personnel.

These checks are carried out periodically on ships with the Italian and non-Italian flags. They fall within the scope of checks on compliance with national and international conventions applicable to merchant ships, to verify their safety conditions, the living and working conditions of the crews on board and the protection of the marine environment from pollution.
