It's certainly one of their best seasons. COS is playing well, picking up points and a solid standing in the league table in a season that can be described as miraculous, considering the team was reinstated from the Eccellenza league after a bitter relegation last season. A team built with the championship almost upon them, with signings that have almost all proven successful. Coach Francesco Loi and his staff have done the rest, shaping the team in just a few weeks, which now occupies an excellent position in the league table, with a wealth of young players always on the pitch. Costa Orientale Sarda approaches the final matches of the season with enthusiasm and confidence, after a positive run thus far. "A better overall result than last year," emphasizes COS secretary Franco Palleschi.
Despite a challenging period marked by numerous injuries—about a dozen players out—the team demonstrated character and consistency. "The start of the second half of the season wasn't exciting, with a few points dropped along the way, but with the exception of the double-header against the powerful Scafatese and the home game against Monastir, we've always played well. The bye week allowed us to recover some key players. We expect to have a full squad soon, with the exception of Arboleda, who underwent knee surgery."
The last three games have revitalized Cos: seven points earned, allowing them to leave the relegation zone and move closer to the playoff race. "Against Trastevere and Anzio, we showed great maturity. The point earned in Palmese was also positive, on a consistently tough pitch and in a direct matchup," Palleschi emphasized.
The standings remain very tight, but the team is ready to fight. "We're three points away from the playoff zone and four from the relegation zone. From seventh to fourteenth place, eight teams are within just five points of each other. It doesn't take much to move up or down. It's crucial to stay focused."
The next match will be against Albalonga in Tertenia, a challenge that Palleschi defines as <difficult but we absolutely must get a result at home>.
Meanwhile, the club will receive the award for third place in the 2025-26 "Giovani D Valore" project at the end of the first half of the season. "A great satisfaction, a concrete recognition of our youth policy and the work done by the youth team," Palleschi concludes.
