Olbia restarts from Serie D. Yesterday, on the day in which the Board of Directors of the National Amateur League made their admission to the championship official, the club illustrated the plan for the 2024/25 sporting season, placing the emphasis on the objectives.
First of all, the immediate return to Serie C after the direct relegation achieved in April, but also the construction of a team suited to professionalism, to have a base from which to start again in the event of promotion, and which expresses good football, and the close collaboration between the first team and Under 19.
From yesterday's press conference, which was attended by president Guido Surace, Benno Räber, of the board of SwissPro which owns Olbia, and the lawyer Eduardo Chiacchio, who handled the appeal which earned the whites admission to Serie D after the failure on 16 July, not much has emerged about the protagonists, players and members of the technical staff, who will leave for the pre-season training camp in Arona, starting on 2 August.
But Räber revealed something. “The goal is to win the championship: we have the finances to do it. Ninni Corda, SwissPro consultant, has been working for months to select the best players: in training camp we will start with 35 prospects, from which we will choose the 23 of the final squad", explained the Swiss lawyer. “Three are veterans from last season and one is from Olbia,” added Räber, who does not give his name but it is easy to guess that he is captain Luca La Rosa.
The organizational chart of the Gallura club has been made official, with Surace as president and general manager. Federico Russu is the general secretary, Ezio Mulas the administrative manager, Massimiliano Varrucciu the communications officer, Gabriele Ballabio will take care of marketing and Giuseppe Pugliese will manage the social media. Confirmations that will help Olbia restart in a season still full of unknowns.
