Ischia, who face Olbia in a one-off Serie D play-off on Sunday, are confident that the Enzo Mazzella stadium will reopen to full capacity after renovations and that their fans will be in attendance. They are also confident that they will continue to thrive in their historic play-off season, having won three of their four Serie C and Serie D relegation matches.
The Gallura side fared better, however, boasting a clean sweep of three play-offs played and won in Serie C. Not to mention their league precedents against the Campanians, including the 1-1 draw at the Nespoli in the first leg, with Olbia taking the lead through Biancu, who Ischia caught up with thanks to Aniceto's goal, and the 3-1 win at Mazzella: Furtado was the star player, scoring all three goals (two of them penalties) for the Whites; Consalvi also scored for the locals.
Interesting fact: in that match, Olbia had to forgo Ragatzu and Viscovo due to injury, and they, like Biancu, could miss the play-off match. In any case, Sunday at the Mazzella will be a different story, with Olbia forced to win to stay in the division, first and foremost on the pitch. Then, the ball will be in the hands of Prosoccer management, which so far is only known to have paid SwissPro a minimum deposit of the €700,000 (plus debt coverage) agreed upon in January for the transfer of ownership.
The next installment, amounting to €125,000, is due by June 30th, and who knows, perhaps by then the club will be able to consolidate its corporate structure with stable management and a new president. In this regard, a rekindling of interest between Olbia and Roberto Sulas is not out of the question: the Gallura entrepreneur, who already made a takeover offer to SwissPro in October, was spotted in the city today.
