It's now official: Giancarlo Favarin is no longer the coach of Olbia. The club announced the news in a statement that reads: "Olbia Calcio 1905 Srl announces that on December 30, 2025, it reached an agreement for the mutual termination of its contract with coach Giancarlo Favarin."

The statement, published on the Gallura club's social media profiles this evening, 24 hours after the Tuscan coach's unannounced departure, included thanks to the coach "for the professionalism, dedication, and commitment he has shown in recent months at the helm of the team, wishing him the best of luck both professionally and personally for the future." Nor did the player himself comment.

"I thank the club, the team, and all the players for the journey we've shared over these past months. A sincere thank you also goes to all the staff and collaborators, including the warehouse workers and everyone who worked with us daily, often out of the spotlight but with great availability and professionalism," said Favarin, who led the Whites through the first half of the Serie D season, finishing with 19 points and fourteenth place in the standings, in the play-off zone. "I also want to thank the city of Olbia and the fans, who have always supported us, even in the most difficult moments. I wish Olbia Calcio all the best for the future."

While awaiting the club's developments related to the ownership negotiations, after which it will be possible to appoint Favarin's successor, goalkeeping coach Fabrizio Carafa will be on the bench for Sunday's return leg against Albalonga at Nespoli.
