Di Stefano scored a hat trick in the first 15 minutes, deciding the match. Torres beat Livorno 3-1 and moved back—at least temporarily—out of the play-off zone.
There's very little to say about a match the Sassari team faced with the right amount of ferocity, immediately undermining the second-to-last defense of the championship. In the 7th minute, Mastinu broke away near the left touchline and found Sorrentino, who entered the box and crossed from the byline: Di Stefano touched it in front of goal before Falasco, and the goal was his.
In the 14th minute, Hamlili's pass was short, but Luciani recovered and laid it off on the left for Di Stefano: a perfect diagonal. Not even two minutes later, it was 3-0: Zambataro's cross from the left was picked up almost at the far end by Sala, who passed it behind to Di Stefano: the ball was placed.
In the 60th minute of the second half, Dionisi cleverly gets in front of Nunziatini, who's clearing the ball into the box and falls: penalty. Di Carmine takes the shot: Zaccago guesses it, but the ball is at too high an angle.
In the 67th minute, a pass to Sorrentino, who makes a good run, and Tosto tugs on his shirt from behind. The home forward falls, but the referee lets play continue. Coach Greco plays his second card for FVS. The referee whistles for a free kick but only gives a yellow, ignoring the fact that it was a last-man foul.
