Torres botched the game. The young and fast Grosseto dominated the match and defeated Greco's Rossoblù 2-0, who also returned empty-handed from this away game.
The four absences weighed heavily: Sorrentino, Scaringi, Zecca, and especially Mastinu, a playmaker capable of lighting up the game with his long passes. On the other hand, the difference in athleticism was truly noticeable compared to the newly promoted Tuscan team, who played a fast-paced style of football, capable of drawing even defenders into the shooting range. And it was precisely the introduction of a defender, Ampollini, that led to the goal: the home player excelling at volleying.
In the second half, coach Greco brought in fresh forces: Bunino immediately. Then Fabri doubled the lead and brought on three more: Masala (for Corsinelli, who was struggling with a muscle injury), Carboni, Lunghi (the most enterprising), and later Sanat. Aside from Pennington's header hitting the crossbar and a shot from almost beyond the line by Bunino, little else was noteworthy other than the increased speed of play with the new additions.
