Nine years after his passing, Serdiana remembers Tziu Boricu Spanu, a longtime member of the Sibiola folk group, known and appreciated throughout Sardinia for his commitment to promoting popular traditions. A mural created by Atzara artist Mauro Patta, inaugurated in Piazza Grux'e Ferru, is dedicated to him. This is a tribute from the outgoing administration led by Mayor Maurizio Cuccu to a man who was a symbol of the town. For years, Tziu Boricu performed with the Serdiana folk group at Sardinia's main festivals and fairs. He was a virtuoso of Sardinian dance, and is credited with the acrobatic interpretation of "Sa Sciampitta," a dance step that, according to historians, once simulated an ancient fight. Tziu Boricu performed it upside down, supported by two other dancers who held him by the hands. Many people attended the inauguration ceremony of the work, which, according to the administration, will become a permanent symbol of Serdiano's identity.
