A teacher is attacked in the middle of a feminist demonstration, only to be abandoned in the warehouse of the old tuna factory, giving rise to a complex investigation that will be intertwined with the changes taking place in society. We are in the Cagliari of the early twentieth century, and this is how Francesco Abate's detective story opens, “Il misfatto della tonnara” (Einaudi), selected among the five finalists of the 2023 Giorgio Scerbanenco Prize .

The new work of the Cagliaritan writer, journalist of the Sardinian Union, was chosen by the literary jury, composed of Valerio Calzolaio, Liborio Conca, Luca Crovi, Cecilia Lavopa, Sergio Pent, Sebastiano Triulzi and John Vignola, as well as the president Cecilia Scerbanenco, daughter of the brilliant pen that gave its name to what can be defined as the Oscar of noir . In addition to them, indicating the five novels that will compete for the victory, there were 2544 readers who were able to vote on the Award website, helping to elect the best works.

“The crime of the tuna fishery” will compete with four other novels that come from as many leading authors in the Italian panorama: another Einaudi, “La banda dei Carusi” by Cristina Cassar Scalia, “The hell of the elect” (White Clown ) by Cristina Brondoni and two Rizzoli, “The Angel of Castelforte” by Gabriella Genisi and “La fine è ignota” by Bruno Morchio.
