Sassari, three days dedicated to the composer Luigi Nono at the Conservatory

For the centenary of the birth of the great 20th century composer Luigi Nono , the “Luigi Canepa” Conservatory of Sassari is organizing three days of music and studies . From Thursday to Saturday , a conference, a masterclass and a concert in the name of the Venetian intellectual are scheduled, included in the contemporary music festival Musicanova and in collaboration with the Laborintus musical association.
The guest of the three days will be the flautist Roberto Fabbriciani , a former collaborator of Luigi Nono and a living memory of the composer's work.
The conference scheduled for 11 in the Guarino room of the Sassari Conservatory (free admission) is entitled “Giacinto Scelsi, Luigi Nono, Franco Oppo and the diffusion of new music in Sardinia” . Conceived by the professor Angelo Pinto and organized together with the vice director of Canepa Gian Carlo Grandi, the study day will investigate the relationships between the three composers and in particular the contribution that the Sardinian Franco Oppo gave to the fortunes of Nono and Scelsi on the island.
The flutist Roberto Fabbriciani will hold the masterclass “The extended techniques of the contemporary flute” on Friday from 10 am to 1 pm.
On Saturday at 6:45 pm the Sassu Hall will host the concert “With Luigi Nono”. The opera Das atmende Klarsein , written by Nono between 1981 and 1983 for small choir, bass flute, magnetic tape and live electronics, will be performed. Roberto Fabbriciani on the flute, the Conservatory Chamber Choir prepared by Clara Antoniciello, Walter Cianciusi and Riccardo Sarti on live electronics directed by Fabio Conocchiella will participate.
