The foyer of the Teatro Comunale di Sassari hosts a new event on Tuesday at 5:30 pm with “Discovering the Opera” organized by the Ente de Carolis. The meeting, with free admission, will be dedicated to an interesting volume dedicated to the correspondence between Giuseppe Verdi and Antonio Ghislanzoni on the creation of " Aida" . The meeting will offer an interesting insight into the collaboration between the famous composer and the poet.
The Verdi-Ghislanzoni Correspondence (1870-1893 ), edited by Ilaria Bonomi , Edoardo Buroni , Marco Spada , published in 2023 by the National Institute of Verdi Studies in Parma, decisively expands the corpus of correspondence. It includes 134 letters (some of which are attested but not preserved) that reach 1893, the year of Ghislanzoni's death.
The volume will be presented by Marco Spada, one of the editors of the work, music critic for l'Unità from 1989 to 1998 and author of numerous essays and scientific articles on 19th-century Italian melodrama. Spada was artistic director of the Ente Concerti di Sassari from 1998 to 2017. The meeting will be attended by the President of de Carolis Antonello Mattone and the director Alberto Gazale.
