From Sardinian masters of the late nineteenth and first half of the twentieth century, such as Giuseppe Biasi, Filippo Figari, Mario Delitala, Stanis Dessy and Bernardino Palazzi to island painters of the late twentieth century and contemporary, such as Liliana Cano (an entire room is dedicated to her), Libero Meledina and Sisinnio Usai. For 30 years, the ArteSpazio Gallery in via Principessa Maria in Sassari has been almost a museum due to its ability to offer works of the highest value.
Giuseppe Bellino, from Puglia who has been transplanted to the island for half a century, is a passionate artist who also collects catalogs, newspaper articles, providing a cascade of information and anecdotes about the various artists. And for several years his son Andrea has been working alongside him.
The Bellino family also works as a talent scout, as for Vanni Rocca from Alghero ("some of his works have been sold in Dubai") but also for the enhancement of artists such as Giovanni Maria Mossa.
The exhibition, which will remain open until January 30, offers about sixty works divided into four rooms. Three are dedicated to Sardinian painting, and Giuseppe Bellino reveals: “The works are in demand not only in Italy, but we have also sold some pieces in Amsterdam and Dublin”.
The fourth room is for artists such as the late Sicilian Jean Calogero, a pupil of Dalì, the American Mark Kostabi, internationally known, and Marco Lodola from Pavia, in great demand by multinational companies and for the scenography of major events such as the Winter Olympics. 2006 and Sanremo 2008.
The dream is to open a gallery also in Cagliari to continue to spread art and above all the in-depth knowledge of Sardinian artists.
