A kaleidoscopic journey through London in the second half of the 17th century, with ironic moments and reflections full of melancholy. And as a soundtrack the music of Henry Purcell, the king of English composers. The Sassu Hall of the Sassari Conservatory hosts " L'Orfeo Britannica " by the " Soloists of the Sicilian Baroque Orchestra " on 6 April at 4pm.

Orpheus Britannicus, in the Stars with Diamonds ” is the title of the work which sees Raffaele Schiavo performing in the role of “singer” together with Piero Cartosio , flautist and author of the subject. At their side are the Argentine violinist Andrea Beatriz Lizarraga and the harpsichordist Luca Ambrosio . Accompanied by the virtuosity of OBS, Schiavo's enthralling story-telling will seek to rekindle in contemporary audiences the musical and human passions of London three and a half centuries ago.

The program includes the Sonata in Tre in D minor, the Lament of Dido, Sephauchi Farewell and Abdelazer by Henry Purcell (1659-1695), the Solo Sonata in E minor by Matthew Locke, Venus and Adonis by John Blow, and the Sonata a solo in C major by Nicola Matteis.

The event is included in the program of the international ancient music festival “Note senza tempo” organized by the Dolci Accenti association.
