Not postcard folklore, but life lived, especially in the Barbagia of Ollolai, Olzai and Gavoi. The Bono painter Carmelo Floris was able to capture the archaic spirit of the Sardinian hinterland. The Sardinia Foundation dedicates an exhibition to him in the Sassari premises in via Carlo Alberto 7.
Fifteen works created by Carmelo Floris and four works by Giuseppe Biasi are on display in the exhibition, with the aim of comparing the work of the two artists. The works cover a period from 1920 to 1950 (the Christ Derided).
Among the works owned by the Foundation, three lunettes from the decorative cycle of Casa Siviero in Oristano (1933) will also be visible, which include Around the hearth, the Procession of Corpus Domini and the Ardia of San Costantino. Also on display are domestic scenes and portraits of women in costume and it is on this last theme that the stylistic comparison between the two artists develops.
The exhibition will be open to visitors until September 30th.
