“Monumenti Aperti” returns to Sassari , scheduled for May 3-4, 2025. “Where everything is possible” is the title chosen by Imago Mundi for the 19th edition which, with the contribution of the organizers and the Municipality, specifically of the Culture sector, will allow people to get to know the beauties of the capital of Sassari and its territory, divided into 47 sites and 5 proposed itineraries. And it will be Sassari itself that will inaugurate the first national edition of the event, illustrated on April 9 in Rome and which, from May 3 to November 9, will tell the story of 800 monuments in 87 cities spread across 19 regions.
As for the Sassari event, among the many new features are the return to the National Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum "Giovanni Antonio Sanna", the National Art Gallery of Sassari and the Restoration and Conservation Center of Cultural Heritage of Li Punti, the Episcopio della Diocesi which reopens after the restoration work, the Villino Ricci between Viale Dante and Via Asproni, the Miniera dell'Argentiera and the Frumentaria. Absolute debut for visits to the public in the former Convent of Via Sebastiano Satta, in the Historical Archive of the High School "Margherita di Castelvì", in the premises of the Ex-MaTer and the Ex Colonia Campestre, in the Basilica del Sacro Cuore, in addition to the route curated by the Istituto Comprensivo Monte Rosello Alto and the railway compendium of Viale Sicilia. As on other occasions in the past, the itineraries that will allow you to investigate the city's history will be proposed again, such as, for example, "In the heart of the historic center" with visits to the most important monuments.
Still in old Sassari, another route is planned, “Inside the walls” , in which volunteers and students will tell the story of places such as the San Pietro Infirmary, the church of Sant'Andrea, the Rosello Fountain, the Palazzo Quesada di San Sebastiano – home of the Circolo Sassarese, the Palazzo d'Usini – home of the Municipal Library, the Casa Tomè – which currently houses the Civic School of Music, the University Palace and the Archbishop's Seminary with the Diocesan Library.
«Monumenti Aperti - says Mayor Giuseppe Mascia - is the clear representation of what could be done much more frequently, perhaps through initiatives specifically dedicated to this or that piece of our vast artistic, architectural, historical, archaeological, urban and naturalistic heritage, to promote Sassari and make it a privileged destination for the cultural tourism segment in Sardinia». «Sassari as a tourist city - adds Councillor for Culture Nicoletta Puggioni - must start first of all from here, from the non-episodic possibility of showing off all the beauty it has, creating with the contribution of professional companies and cultural associations a circuit capable of involving the commercial, agri-food, food and wine and market system in the possibility of creating a city that never closes its doors to visitors , and that at the same time imagines new opportunities for its citizens to become a community, to experience the city and to share public spaces».
