A master in every sense of the word. For his mastery of the guitar and his natural talent for instilling a love of the six-string instrument in young people. Armando Marrosu passed away on December 31, 2021. He will be remembered on Thursday, February 26, at the Teatro Astra in Sassari with the concert-event "Homage to Armando Marrosu," starting at 8:30 pm.
The initiative was initiated by the historic band Bertas, who collaborated with the Sassari Guitar Association, founded by Maestro Marrosu in 1977 with several students. Since then, over nearly half a century, thousands of young people have taken up the instrument. To give an idea of the international esteem the musician has received, it's enough to recall two awards: the "Golden Guitar," awarded to him in Alessandria in 2000, and the Honorary Prize "Tota una vida per la Guitarra," awarded to him in 2011 at the 8th "Miguel Llobet" International Guitar Competition held at the Barcelona Conservatory.
The concert, organized thanks to the collaboration of Professor Stefano Marrosu, will involve: the "Luigi Canepa" Conservatory of Music in Sassari (Professors Federica Artuso and Giuseppe Zinchiri), the "Azuni" Music High School (Professors Danilo Leggieri, Stefano Maccioccu, Stefano Marrosu, Calogero Sportato, Luigi Fedele), the "Pertini Biasi" Comprehensive Institute (Professor Sabina Sanna), the Convitto Nazionale Canopoleno (Professor Giorgio Bittau), and finally another Comprehensive Institute, the "Antonio Gramsci" in Ossi (Professor Giovanna Marras).
