From Russia to Venice, from Spain to Naples. Marco Spissu makes his second return to the Italian Serie A, signing a two-year contract with Napoli. The Sassari-born point guard, born in 1995, ended his time in Zaragoza with a bang (20 points, including a crucial three-pointer that kept the team safe), and several Italian clubs were interested. Napoli ultimately won, building an ambitious squad, especially considering the arrival of another national team player: John Petrucelli.
Spissu returns as an opponent of the teams he played for: Virtus Bologna, which he helped bring back to the top division, and Reyer Venezia, where, despite criticism, he produced very respectable numbers in the 2024 championship playoffs: 10 points on 34% three-pointers, 89% free throws, and 5.6 assists on average.
Dinamo, relegated to Serie A2, will not be there, except for a repechage in place of Trieste, which appears to be the most struggling of the clubs linked to American Matiasic. Registration closes on June 26th, so more information will be available on Saturday.
