Mourning in the music world in Sassari. Antonio Pilo, a guitarist with over 30 years of experience on stage, died today. He would have turned 44 at the end of the month if a serious illness had not unfortunately taken him away after suffering for several months. Born in the historic center, in vicolo Isabelline, he learned to play the guitar as a child.
"He never took a day of music school - says his friend and companion Sandrino Carta with whom he collaborated in the band Sors'Amigos - he had a natural gift for playing and singing with the timbre of Ginetto Ruzzetta". The latter was a poet and musician and among the founders of the Sassari song that Pilo embodied with great adhesion. "Antonio had a huge heart, he collaborated with everyone and was always available for every event. I don't think a person like him could ever have had enemies".
As a child, he learned to play the guitar and made his early debut on stage at the age of 12 with the Nuovo Trio del Latte Dolce. "He knew how to be a soloist and sing, a rare ability, as well as being a very good imitator of Adriano Celentano. If you closed your eyes, it seemed like you were hearing the Molleggiato." He was also an ironic person and always ready for a joke, as recalled by Christian Luisi, an organizer of artistic events, who had known him for twenty years . "But his real magic," he says, "was in the music, the one he played and sang with a unique passion. The folk music of Sassari, which he interpreted with extraordinary mastery, was not just a melody, but a story that came to life through his hands and his voice." Antonio Pilo leaves behind his wife and four children.
