An exceptional event, a testimony of rare humanity. Special morning at the University of Sassari for the awarding of the honorary degree in Philosophical Sciences to Edith Bruck , a Hungarian naturalized Italian, who survived the Nazi concentration camps together with her sister.

The ceremony was held in live streaming between the main hall and the house in Rome where ninety-two-year-old Edith Bruck lives.

The Holocaust witness was moved by the presentation made by Valeria Panizza , Director of the Department of History, Human Sciences and Education, and by Sebastiano Ghisu, President of the Course of Studies in Historical and Philosophical Sciences, and by the laudatio read by Gavina Cherchi, Professor of Aesthetics in the course of studies in Historical and Philosophical Sciences.

«I have received two other degrees – said Edith Bruck – but I have never heard such profound words towards me. And I had never cried. Thank you so much."

And the whole room, filled with authorities and students from some high schools in the province, exploded in a standing ovation.
