A choice that fully respects the spirit of the newly created figure of the Olympic Truce torchbearers: Cristina Chessa Colombino is one of the torchbearers in the Sassari stage of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Flame Relay.

The student from Sassari played an active role in the "Youth for Peace in the Mediterranean" project. Cristina, along with young Turkish woman Merve Sahin, presented and delivered the Youth for Peace in the Mediterranean Declaration at the United Nations in New York on June 25th. This declaration is the fruit of the work of hundreds of young people from 11 Mediterranean countries.

Cristina Chessa Colombino's presence confirms the connection between Sassari and the international journey of the Youth Declaration, signed in the city on November 8, 2024: a continuity that makes Sassari a City of Peace, capable of bringing its voice—and that of the new generations—into the broader Mediterranean and global dialogue.

The passing of the flame will take place around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, when Cristina will take on the role of Torchbearer of the Olympic Truce, confirming Sassari's role as a city of peace and the role of sport in the peace process in a world still hostage to international conflicts.
