The work of Torquato Tasso interpreted through the eyes of a 20th-century painter and illustrator. The Sassari headquarters of the Fondazione di Sardegna, on Via Carlo Alberto, houses works created in 1070 by the Nuoro artist Bernardino Palazzi.
The exhibition is free to enter and can be visited from Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm.
The plates testify to a twentieth-century reinterpretation of Tasso's poem, in which the epic is filtered through a measured composition, a deliberate use of color (tempera), and a strong formal synthesis. Palazzi captures the poem's emblematic moments with essential images, combining tradition and modern sensibility.
The artist from Nuoro has chosen scenes from songs that speak of duels, encounters between heroes and female figures, and even moments of lyrical suspense. "The characters are sometimes isolated or placed in simple settings, as if the buildings were more interested in highlighting the symbolic value of the action than in portraying it in every detail.
