An artist who strikes "for her communicative and empathic performances and for an artistic career with a strong community gaze": this is the motivation of the jury that awarded the Basque Iara Solano the 1st S'Empatia International Prize for Performing Arts.

She was chosen among the 15 national and foreign candidates of the list selected among the people who in 2022 carried out an artistic residency at the S'Ala space for artists in Sassari. Iara Solano won a check for 1,500 euros and a pair of golden scissors, the symbol of the activity in Carlo Solinas' fabric shop. The award is in fact dedicated to the memory of Carlo Solinas who, in addition to being an entrepreneur, was president of the Teatro Verdi and promoter of art.

Born in 1985, Solano is an independent artist, producer and curator with a degree in European Theater Arts and a master's degree in Scenic Practices and Visual Culture. Among her qualities have been recognized "the care and support for others", which unites her to Carlo Solinas.

The recognition was conferred on Saturday during a highly attended evening presented by Moreno Solinas, artistic director of S'ALA, alongside the dancer Margherita Elliot, in the Spazio in via Asproni in Sassari.
