Among those persecuted by fascism and nazism there were also artists. The Pinacoteca Nazionale di Sassari dedicates a tour to some of them on Sunday at 11:30 to commemorate the Day of Remembrance. Entrance to the museum is free and will also allow you to view the impressive collection of paintings.
The itinerary is dedicated to the life and works of three Sardinian artists: Carmelo Floris , who was arrested by the fascist secret police and sent into confinement, Costantino Nivola , who, marrying Ruth Guggenheim , a German Jew, was forced to flee with her to the USA because of the racial laws promulgated by the fascist regime, and Ausonio Tanda , an anti-fascist, who was imprisoned in Rome, in the infamous prisons of Via Tasso, for having carried out acts of sabotage. An experience that marked his artistic production forever.
The visit itinerary is enriched for the occasion by some works on temporary display, including two by Costantino Nivola .
