The Aula Magna of the "Sironi" Academy in via Duca degli Abruzzi hosts the national conference entitled "From the Fine Arts Academies to the Polytechnics of the Arts?" on Monday and Tuesday. The two-day event curated by Nicolas Martino, Giovanni Sanna and Federico Soro will take stock with professors from various national academies on the History, present and future of the Institutions of Higher Artistic Education in Italy, which involves over 30 thousand students and 3 thousand teachers, both employed and temporary.

The seminar (starting at 9) aims to launch a research project that proposes to genealogically study the history of the Academies to fully understand the nature of their specific knowledge and, therefore, also the possible development that these institutions have and could have on the level of teaching and research, within an overall transformation of knowledge and its regulations.

With the introduction of PhDs, access to PRIN funds, the new recruitment system that introduces the roles of researchers and laboratory technicians, and a new governance system. In fact, the Academies of Fine Arts are going through a process of renewal that makes moments of in-depth analysis and comparison urgent.

Monday the opening with the introduction of Prof. Nicolas Martino, and the institutional greetings and speeches of the President Giorgio Auneddu Mossa, historian of the Academies of Fine Arts, and of the Director Daniele Dore. Antonio Passa, Fernando De Filippi and Nicola Maria Martino, artists and former Directors and Presidents, will speak, and Sonia Borsato will moderate.

On Tuesday, the work will take place from 9 to 13 and will continue from 14.30 to 17.30 with a Round Table . The interventions of the directors Umberto De Paola (Academy of Fine Arts of Palermo), Cecilia Casorati, (Academy of Fine Arts of Rome) and Giuseppe Gaeta (Academy of Fine Arts of Naples) are planned. In the afternoon, the specialists Fabio Dell'Aversana and Antonello Tolve, from the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, and Sonia Borsato, Davide Mariani and Nicolas Martino, from the Academy of Fine Arts of Sassari will participate.
