The real Sartiglia, which takes place in the stables amid toasts and preparations, is intoxicated by stars and spectacle. It's Daniele Mattu's big day, who, with the blessing of Saint John, will lead the Farmers' Guild's race. "The more hours pass, the more excited we feel, but we're ready," comments the 39-year-old.

The Sartiglia will be broadcast live on Videolina from 11:30 a.m. until the end of the race (channel 10 on digital terrestrial television; streaming at www.videolina.it ) with commentary by Mario Tasca and interviews by Gianfranco Locci. It will be broadcast on Sardegna 1 (channel 99; www.sardegna1.it) with commentary in Sardinian by Gianni Zanata and Nicola Dessì. The Farmers' Guild joust will be broadcast on TCS on Wednesday from 9 a.m., with commentary in English by Bettina Brovelli and Matteo Camba.
