A large mural that will feature citizens of all ages, an abstract work almost two hundred meters long and two meters high to celebrate man and nature : SarrochArt, the visual arts festival organized by the Municipality, now in its third edition, is coming to life.
After the portrait of Mario Tiddia that stands out on the external wall of the municipal stadium and the reinterpretation of a work by Francesco Ciusa that decorates the wall of the middle school, the new mural will embellish the pedestrian area of the Is Cannas stream , which connects via Dante to via Cagliari.
The participatory urban art project will start on Thursday, while the finished work will be inaugurated on Saturday: from 9 to 12:30, students from all schools will be coloring the riverside wall, while from 14:30 to 18:30 it will be everyone else's turn to give vent to their creativity.
The creation of the mural will also involve the artist Mauro Rizzo, the atelierista and designer Maria Tedde, and the architect Massimo Congiu: the artistic direction is entrusted to Marco Peri.
Rebecca Scano, Councilor for Culture, explains how the goal is to involve the entire town: "We have extended the invitation to all schools, associations, the parish and the senior center, we want there to be collaboration between generations to bring this work to life. The theme chosen this year is social, and wants to underline the importance of taking care of the environment: it will be three days of celebration, in which our community will come together to celebrate art and beautify one of the corners of our town".
Marcello Masu, president of the Culture Commission, explains how everyone's collaboration will be essential: «It's a rather large mural, everyone will be able to contribute even without having artistic skills . The beauty of this project is that you don't need established artists to color the chosen space, but it's the united community that can create something that will last over time. There will be a project to follow, but participants will still be able to leave their mark by setting their imagination in motion. The main objective is to strengthen the sense of belonging to our country , a place where everyone can contribute to making it a more beautiful place, starting with children and school kids, who will also have a fundamental role in this edition. We believe that Sarroch has many places that still need to be enhanced and that hide great potential, one of these is certainly the covered canal of Rio Is Cannas, a 180-meter walk, which connects two of the most important streets in the country».
