After 53 years , the New York Knicks made American basketball history by winning the NBA title after beating the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in the Finals. A victory (4-1 overall) that sent the Big Apple fans, who had been waiting for this success since 1973 , into ecstasy.

Thousands of people gathered in front of giant screens set up throughout the city, which was awash in blue and orange, for an achievement hailed as historic by Mayor Zohran Mamdani and US President Donald Trump.

A victory that also speaks Sardinian, thanks to Riccardo Fois, former basketball player for Santa Croce Olbia and member of the national team's coaching staff, now assistant to Knicks coach Mike Brown.
