The site of Cuccureddus in Villasimius, a strong attraction for the Phoenician people who settled at least since the middle of the 7th century BC One of the topics covered by the next appointment at the national archaeological museum Antiquarium Turritano in Porto Torres, scheduled for Thursday 23 March at 5pm. Michele Guirguis, professor of Archeology at the University of Sassari, will be a guest on the occasion of the eighth meeting of the series of conferences “A thousand and one museums” with a speech entitled “Sards and Phoenicians from the eighth to the sixth century. BC: new researches at Sulky-Sant'Antioco and at Cuccureddus-Villasimius”. At the center of the conference were the characteristics of the area surrounding the site of Cuccureddus, the natural harbor with the estuary of the Rio Foxi, where the Phoenicians settled on the lowest of the hills and built a sacred place, which became a meeting place for navigators who frequented those waters.

The event is organized by the Regional Directorate of Museums of Sardinia with the University of Sassari, curated by Luana Toniolo and the teacher Paola Ruggeri.
