Sardinian tourist railways: 33 million euros to put the sections back on track

A call for tenders worth 33 million euros .
It is the one published by the Italian Railway Network for the implementation of renovation and extraordinary maintenance of the railway superstructure on some sections of the Sardinian railway lines.
These are the Mandas-Arbatax, Sassari-Tempio-Palau, Isili-Sorgono, Macomer-Bosa lines, which are intended for tourist use through the convoys of the Green Train. The tender will also be financed with Pnrr funds.
A first phase of works will concern the renewal and maintenance of the tracks, which represent the most important part of the investment.
These will be followed by other works on the tunnels and buildings: the state of the bridges of the regional tourist lines will also be verified - for a total of 62 million euros - for which planning has already been started and tenders launched for smaller amounts.
The Ministry of Culture has assigned these funds from the National Plan for complementary investments to the Pnrr to Rete Ferroviaria Italiana as the implementing body of the interventions on the tourist lines owned by the Region of Sardinia and managed by Arst.
The completion of the works and the commissioning of the works carried out, as per the Pnrr programme, is scheduled for 2026.
