«In the last two years, a certain perspective has been reached regarding the price of milk , so that there can be a certain stability in our companies. Today, this prospect seems to be undermined by some salespeople who, in an unclear way of doing things, are trying to bring down the price of pecorino romano, perhaps out of personal interest».

The denunciation comes from the Sardinian Shepherds, Gianuario Falchi, Nenneddu Sanna, Fabio Pisu, Mario Carai and Carmela Abrioni , who launch an appeal to the presidents of the cooperatives and to the industrialists and say they are ready for «new actions of struggle» .

«We need to get together and establish a common minimum ceiling under which cheese cannot be sold, because it is clear that a return to the past modus operandi would make us think of your bad faith and speculation on the shoulders of shepherds since the market does not ask for this but asks for stability» , write the pastors in a note. "If this is not the case - they continue - today it would lead to the definitive abandonment of our activities in favor of projects aimed only at the production of renewable energies, but these do not produce food".

"The situation is already precarious - they observe - there is the risk of dismantling an entire, noble economic and social system for Sardinia ".

The shepherds recall that the prospect of milk price stability, as well as giving solidity to the companies, "would also encourage the will of the already few young people who intend to undertake these activities, with beneficial returns for the entire social context".
