Goods and passengers, boom in the ports of the Island.
This is certified by the data emerging from the final budget and the annual report approved today together with seven other items on the agenda by the Management Committee of the Adsp Mare di Sardegna.
In 2024, approximately 41 million and 700 thousand tons of goods passed through Sardinia (equal to 1.7% more than in 2023); over 6.5 million passengers (+5.2%) and just over 684 thousand cruise passengers (+57%). The budget records an increase of approximately 2 million in current revenues compared to 2023 (+2.65%) and therefore stands at over 71 million and 200 thousand euros. Expenditures are also growing, rising by 21.5% compared to 2023, equal to just over 39 million and 300 thousand euros. As of December 31, 2024, the AdSP closes with an administrative surplus of approximately 348 million, over 325 tied up for the payment of works already in progress. The available administrative surplus amounts to approximately 23 million euros, the lowest recorded so far.
As regards infrastructure and maintenance, spending exceeds 130 million euros (67 percent of the total commitment of 194 million). Container handling at the Porto Canale of Cagliari is increasing (+77.7%) and there is also an increase for Grendi and Grimaldi (+18%).
Among the strategic works, the construction of the new Ro-Ro Terminal in Cagliari (for which approximately 97 million euros were paid) and the start of the electrification of the docks of the system ports, with the delivery of the first construction site in December. Regarding the state property, there are 380 concessions for an annual collection that exceeds 12 million and 600 thousand euros in fees. Another point submitted to the Management Committee concerns the preliminary opinion on the expression of interest of the New Icom for the maritime state property concession of a portion of the dock, body of water and related space behind the canal port to be used for the movement of components and semi-finished products produced in the nearby factory.
"2024 represented a year of consolidated growth in traffic for all the ports of competence and the start of an intense season of strengthening of port infrastructures - comments the president of the Adsp, Massimo Deiana -. A premise for further economic growth that will guarantee safe navigation, with a valid crew on board, for the entire next four years".
Also coming is a pilot project for the unified issuing of port access permits for haulers.
